NYC WebPerf Meetup Feb 2020 - Measuring the Adoption of Web Performance Techn...Paul Calvano
Performance optimization is a cyclical process. We are constantly learning new ways to optimize, while simultaneously adopting new technologies and techniques that negatively impact performance. The HTTP Archive provides a great historical record of the technical side of the web, with almost 10 years of history and an ever growing dataset of sites.
During this session Paul will provide a brief overview of the HTTP Archive and then dive into some insights into the adoption of common web performance techniques and some of their measurable impacts.
This document discusses using structured data and schemas to improve search engine optimization. It covers choosing the right markup format, deploying schemas at the content management system level, testing schemas, restructuring content to support schemas, and measuring their impact. The presentation includes examples of implementing different schema types like events, products, and local businesses. It also addresses common schema errors and the importance of ongoing testing and validation.

Google-image poisoning: How hackers use images to spread malwareAvast
This document discusses Google image poisoning attacks, which use hacked sites to redirect users searching for images to sites containing fake antivirus software or exploits. The attacks work by generating keyword-rich pages with hotlinked images that are indexed highly by search bots. An evolving PHP script is used to create spam pages, change server settings, download malicious files, and redirect users to the fake sites. Data from Avast shows over 22,000 infected domains have been detected between March and August 2011 through this method.
SMX Advanced 2018 SEO for Javascript Frameworks by Patrick Stoxpatrickstox
The document discusses SEO considerations for JavaScript frameworks. It notes that SEOs need to understand how JavaScript works and how search engines handle it, as many developers are not familiar with SEO. It provides tips for SEOs, including that search engines don't interact with the page content in the same way users do, and content should be loaded by default without user interaction. It also discusses different approaches to rendering pages for search engines like server-side rendering versus client-side rendering.
This document summarizes Jerry's presentation on phishing detection. It discusses:
1. Jerry's website for his work on phishing detection and his contact information.
2. The evolving techniques used by phishers and challenges in detecting phishing sites that change rapidly.
3. Jerry's proposed approach called "PhishBox" which uses crawlers to extract features from sites and uses these to classify sites as legitimate or phishing through validation and detection models.
Big Data Analytics with Google BigQuery. GDG Summit Spain 2014javier ramirez
This document discusses using Google BigQuery for big data analytics. BigQuery is a serverless warehousing data analytics service that allows interactive analysis of petabytes of data. It uses columnar storage and a distributed execution tree to enable fast queries over large datasets. The document provides examples of loading and querying data from public datasets as well as tips for using BigQuery's SQL functions, views, and JSON fields.
-Choosing right markup for your business
-Deploying structured data at the CMS level

- Что изменилось на рынке DDoS-атак в 2016 году;
- Каковы обстоятельства атаки, обрушившей Akamai и Google, что привело к этому и как от этого защититься;
- Как ситуация будет развиваться дальше.
Use Monitoring, Logs, and Analytics Tools to Measure CDN and Site Performance...Amazon Web Services
In this session, use metrics and logs from Amazon CloudFront, and tools such as Amazon CloudWatch and third-party performance measurement tools, to measure and improve your web and mobile performance.
API Analytics with Redis and Bigquery. NoSQLmatters Cologne '14 edition. Javi...javier ramirez
At teowaki we have a system for API usage analytics, with Redis as a fast intermediate store and bigquery as a big data backend. As a result, we can launch aggregated queries on our traffic/usage data in just a few seconds and we can try and find for usage patterns that wouldn’t be obvious otherwise.In this session I will talk about how we entered the Big Data world, which alternatives we evaluated, and how we are using Redis and Bigquery to solve our problem.

Enabling Microservice @ Orbitz - GOTO Chicago 2016Steve Hoffman
In this talk we will discuss how we enabled decomposition of one of our 500+ system components into a continuously deployed microservice cluster. Our platform is comprised of Apache Mesos/Marathon, Docker, and a number of local services including Consul for service discovery, Logstash for diskless logging, and a custom metrics forwarder to Graphite. Building on this, we'll detail our CI pipeline using Jenkins workflows to build and publish microservices as Docker images, test and deploy via Marathon/Mesos, and automated change tickets. Finally, we'll discuss lessons learned from building our own enterprise PaaS and scaling it out to a large organization.
This document summarizes the transformation of Comcast's infrastructure and development processes using cloud metrics and open source tools. It discusses moving to a cloud-native approach using Cloud Foundry, consolidating monitoring tools including InfluxData, and partnering with development teams. This enabled transparency into infrastructure and application metrics, identified efficiencies, and helped deliver products faster while removing heavy lifting for developers. The results included supporting over 2,000 developers and 1,000 unique applications on a significantly larger cloud infrastructure.
SmartNews introduced an in-house Platform as a Service (PaaS) called spaas to easily deploy and operate docker-based applications. Spaas uses ECS and Terraform for container hosting and provisioning. It features load balancing, service discovery using ELB and Consul, log management with Fluentd and S3, and a CLI for creating, configuring, deploying, and rolling back services. Future plans include adding deployment pipelines, priority task definitions, termination hooks, dedicated hosts, and CDN integration.
The document contains a list of over 200 domain names. The vast majority are convertico.com domains, with others including googleads.g.doubleclick.net, fonts.gstatic.com, and pagead2.googlesyndication.com. This suggests the list tracks domains contacted by a website hosted on convertico.com, with many connections to Google advertising and font domains.
Alex Danilin - How to Analyze Your Competitors' BacklinksNetpeak
This document discusses how to analyze competitors' backlinks. It makes several assumptions about common backlink metrics and how to interpret them. It provides data on the distribution of backlinks across different platforms and topics. It also gives recommendations on how to estimate referring domain quality, determine the appropriate number of pages that should receive links, and find sources for good quality backlinks.
Bigdata for small pockets, by Javier Ramirez from teowaki. RubyC Kiev 2014javier ramirez
This is the story of how https://teowaki.com added bigdata analytics using a very economic approach.
Bigdata is amazing. You can get insights from your users, find interesting patterns and have lots of geek fun. Problem is big data usually means many servers, a complex set up, intensive monitoring and a steep learning curve. All those things cost money. If you don't have the money, you are losing all the fun. In my talk I will show you how you can use Redis, Google Bigquery and Apps Script to manage big data from your application for under $1 per month. Don't you feel like running a RegExp over 300 million rows in just 5 seconds?
